چکیده
Objective To investigate recent trends in bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and its risk factors among extremely preterm infants. Study design Demographic clinical data were reviewed for 19 370 infants born at 22-27 weeks of gestation registered the affiliated hospitals Neonatal Research Network Japan between 2003 2016. We investigated overall survival prevalence 36 weeks’ postmenstrual age developing BPD survivors. Results Among infants, 2244 (11.6%) died by 36 weeks' age. The mortality rate decreased from 19.0% (99% CI, 15.7%-22.8%) to 8.0% 6.2%-10.3%) 17 126 survivors, developed 7792 (45.5%) proportion significantly increased 41.4% 36.5%-46.4%) 52.0% 48.2%-55.9%) A multivariable analysis survivors showed a positive association with ≥4 weeks' supplemental oxygen or invasive ventilation, birth weight Conclusions has decreased, but Despite decreasing duration ventilation over time, increasing rates suggest that differences patient population other management strategies influence development BPD.

Trends in Survival and Incidence of Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia in Extremely Preterm Infants at 23–26 Weeks Gestation
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between survival and incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in extremely premature infants, and identify clinical factors responsible for this association. Medical records of 350 infants at 23-26 weeks gestation from 2000 to 2005 (period I, n = 137) and 2006 to 2010 (period II, n = 213) were retrospectively reviewed. The infants w...
متن کاملCould mean platelet volume predict developing of bronchopulmonary dysplasia in preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome?
Introduction: some studies have suggested correlation between MPV index and inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis in adults. Though bronchopulmonary dysplasia is also an inflammatory disease which develops in preterm neonates with Respiratory distress syndrome, we decided to study the possible correlation between the mean platelet volume (MPV) and the occurrence of bronchopulmonary...
متن کاملBronchopulmonary dysplasia and postnatal growth in extremely premature black infants.
Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) may adversely affect the postnatal growth of the extremely premature infant; however, most studies have not controlled for birth weight. We studied 90 Black premature infants (mean birth weight 989 +/- 148 g). Weight was recorded biweekly until discharge and at 4, 8, and 12 months of age corrected for prematurity. Infants with BPD (N = 23) were contrasted with i...
متن کاملDexamethasone treatment in preterm infants at risk for bronchopulmonary dysplasia.
A randomised double blind placebo controlled study was conducted to determine whether a one week course of dexamethasone could reduce the severity of bronchopulmonary dysplasia in preterm infants without compromising their adrenal function. Forty one infants with a mean birth weight of 880 g and a gestational age of 27 weeks who were ventilator dependent at 10 days of age were enrolled. At the ...
